American Shea Butter Institute and Association of Nigerian Exporters MoU from 2007 is to achieve the following goals:
To provide appropriate interconnection between Nigerian and American organizations as reasonably certified, for the purpose of conducting collaborative research, product development, pre-market testing and commercialization programmes, technological transfer projects and market development
To promote collaboration between their constituent membership and associate institutions relating to the development and commercialization of technology, products and services
To promote visits and secondment of appropriate officials between the ASBI and ANE, and related organizations
To encourage the Partners of each Party to support their collaboration through sponsorship endeavours towards the realization of the programmes of this MOU
To promote advocacy and encourage government agencies including legislatures, educational institutions, trade and investment-related agencies, to advance friendly policies, assist in technology acquisition, identification, adaptation and, or adoption of best practice models, as well as new ideas
To apprise each other of their respective business ethics, practices and policies, as well as management and governance issues with respect to further develop shea butter technology, know-how and markets
To provide technical support to shea butter processors, exporters and importers for product development, fruit selection, storage, quality analysis, standards, packaging, certification and shipping procedures
To organize training programmes, conferences, workshops, exhibitions, trade fairs, as well as participate in relevant public events organized by other organizations
Under the MoU quite a number of collaborations have benefitted ANE members including attendance of the Annual International Shea Butter Convention (ISBC) organized by the ASBI in Atlanta.
